Refugee Transitions assists refugee and immigrant families in becoming self-sufficient in the U.S. They need volunteers for various programs and services including their Adult ESL Training Program.
Vision Literacy (East Bay Region)
Volunteer tutors are needed to teach adults over the age of 16 how to read, write, use the computer, usr the library and balance a checkbook. The adults are conversant in English and have literacy skills at or below high school level. They are motivated to learn because they want to improve their job situation, help their children with schoolwork or realize another benefit.
