Edgewood Park and Preserve (Woodside)

This park is famous for its fields of wildflowers in the springtime. The protected wilderness area has a variety of ecological diversity with grasslands, chaparral, coastal scrub regions, foothill woodlands that support over 500 distinct plant species, the threatened Bay Checkerspot Butterfly, frogs, lizards, foxes, coyote, bobcat, raccoon, deer, and over 70 resident and migratory birds. Friends of Edgewood offer free guided tours covering about 3 miles, at a moderate pace, with frequent stops.  There are restrooms on site.

South San Francisco Walking Tours (South San Francisco)

The South San Francisco Historical Society has identified 50 sites that are of historic interest.  There are markers along the trail that include a brief statement of the site's historical significance.  The are three tours that cover approximately 4.5 square miles and travel through areas where industrial companies once flourished, the old downtown and hotels where early settlers boarded as well as prominent homes, farms, schools, and other significant locations. Use the MAP link below to follow the trail.

The Waterfalls of Morgan Hill (Peninsula Region)

Join us for a hike on shaded trails surrounded by lush green foliage past three waterfalls. Along the way, we cross bridges and pass by ferns and moss-covered rock formations as we walk along a stretch of Uvas and Swanson Creeks. We will look for California Nutmeg, Canyon Live Oak, California Buckeye, and other foliage along the side of the trail. We end the afternoon with a social picnic in our especially reserved group area. This special program is hosted in partnership with Valley Water.
