Hike 2 Virtual Lunch & Learn at Monte Bello Preserve
Thursday February 18, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM
Bring your lunch and join us for an interactive educational tour of Monte Bello Preserve. First, we will learn about amphibians, reptiles and mushrooms that can be found at this preserve. Next, on our four mile walk, we will travel up the steep, forest covered White Oak Trail in search of birds and mushrooms to reach an open grassland for views of Black Mountain. We head back downhill along the Stevens Creek Nature trail following Stevens Creek to find amphibians that make their home by the creek. This special program is hosted in partnership with Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District.

Lecture 3 Dietary Fats: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Thursday February 25, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM
In the 1970s, it was thought that dietary fat was the root of all evil and caused the growing epidemic of coronary heart disease and obesity in the United States. This started a low fat trend in the food industry. As it turns out, there are some fats that are important for a healthy diet. In this seminar, Dr. Nusrat Khaleeli will discuss the complex role of fats in our body and explain how certain fats cause negative health effects.
