Volunteer to speak English with newly resettled refugee families. Attend English as a Second Language classes with the refugees at the Catholic Charities office and assist with the spoken exercises and basic conversation.

Assist Latino and Filipino older adults with computer skills. Volunteers over 55 who live in Santa Clara County are eligible to belong to RSVP and receive some benefits.

Eastern European Service Agency (San Jose)

This organization ddresses the needs of immigrants and refugees from the former Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe by providing social services, mental health, parent education and guidance, early childhood and youth services, referrals, ESL classes and translation services that are provided in Bosnian, Albanian, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, Polish and Russian. They are looking for volunteers with backgrounds in social services, events coordination, bookkeeping business, office administration or information technology.

KTEH (San Jose)

KTEH is a public broadcasting company serving the San Jose area. Volunteer during quarterly fundraising drives by answering phones to take pledges or provide technical support for the televised fundraisers.
