Japanese Friendship Garden Alzheimers Association Tour
In partnership with the Alzheimer's Association, BAO organized a leisurely two-mile walk at Kelley Park and the picturesque Japanese Friendship Garden of San Jose. Our tour was led by a retired San Jose Ranger who is a garden expert and distinguished Haiku poet. He took us on a multisensory tour of the Japanese Friendship Garden with Haiku readings as we learned about its history and the structures at the park such as the lanterns, bridges, trees, rocks and waterfalls that symbolize different aspects of Japanese culture. After the tour, we had a picnic lunch under the redwood trees. Thank you to Open Space Authority for supporting this special program.
