Stevens Creek Walkabout
On this mid-May hike, we learned about California's first comprehensive plan for water management and the history of dams in our state. When we stopped to see Stevens Creek dam and reservoir, we learned about the purposes of dams and reservoirs including the support of diverse wildlife. Walking along Stevens Creek, we learned about the birds, fish, plants and endangered species that this watershed supports. We passed around a chart that has the different water sources for different cities so BAOers could find the city in which they lived and what were their available water sources. We ended the day with a picnic lunch by Stevens Creek. Thank you to Santa Clara Valley Water District for their support of this program.
