Hakone Japanese Garden

This is the oldest Asian and Japanese estate in the Western Hemisphere and was established in 1915. It covers 18 acres of green hills overlooking Silicon Valley with a Koi pond, lily pond, Zen garden, Moon bridge, tea garden, Wisteria arbor, water fall, Carmellia garden, bamboo garden, many different lanterns and carved stones and picnic area.  Restrooms, cold drinks and tea are available.

Requirements

Food and beverages are not allowed in the main garden but are allowed in the picnic area.  No pets, music or smoking is allowed.

Weekdays 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Weekends 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, Closed Christmas Day and New Years Day

Fees

Discounted entrance fees for seniors, students 5 to 17 years with valid ID. Children 4 years and under are free.

Disabled Access

The Gardens have a limited access to wheelchairs.

Directions

Take hwy 85 south to Saratoga Ave exit.  Go west on Saratoga Ave (right) and go through the downtown area.  Once you leave the village, the garden will be on your left.  The entrance is up a steep hill.
