Capacitor (East Bay Region)

This dance company has seven full length dance shows. Their performances are a unique collaboration between dance and science that leads to a bound breaking show.

This contemporary ballet company is led by founder and Artistic Director Charles Anderson, a former member of the New York City Ballet. Performance locations vary and are in Mountain View, Walnut Creek and San Francisco.

Diablo Ballet (Walnut Creek)

Diablo Ballet was founded in 1993 and consists of ten international dancers who have performed soloist and principal roles in such distinguished companies as the Bavarian National Ballet, the Ballet De Cali in Colombia, Ballet de Caracas in Venezuela, the Miami City, San Francisco, and the Houston and Colorado Ballets.

Classes offered include ballroom, easy Hula, line dance (from beginner to intermediate level), Polynesian, soul, tap and live band dance. Classes meet in mornings, afternoons and evenings.

High Release Dance (East Bay Region)

They were founded in 1994 by a group of modern dancers that work in a collaborative environment. Their work spans a variety of dance styles from highly abstract modern to jazz, lyrical movement poems, improvisations, and theatrical works. In addition the mood ranges from serious to humorous. Performance locations are all over the Bay Area.

Huckabay McAllister Dance (East Bay Region)

This is a San Francisco based dance and theatre company, established in 1993 by Co Directors Jenny McAllister and Emma Lou Huckabay (now retired). They have been producing full evening works in fall seasons in San Francisco since 1995, as well as performing in other locations throughout the Bay Area. The performances are a unique combination of modern dance and humor.

Kendra Kimbrough Dance Ensemble (Oakland)

The Dance Ensemble was founded in 1996 by Artistic Director Kendra Kimbrough Barnes. They are committed to representing a range of ages, body types, and movement styles and strive to inform audiences about various social issues. This is a multicultural group of dancers and the choreography integrates modern dance with movements inspired by African, Brazilian, and North Indian cultures. They have a self produced home season in Oakland.

Classes offered include Hawaiian Hula, line dance (from beginner to intermediate level), tap and live band dance. Classes meet in mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center (Livermore)

The performing arts center is home to the 500 seat Bankhead Theater that hosts a variety of dance performances by the Oakland Ballet and the other artists across the United States and worldwide.

This professional contemporary ballet company is led by founder and Artistic Director Mark Foehringer. Performance locations vary and include Walnut Creek and San Francisco.
Mastick Senior Center (Alameda)
There are quality programs, classes and services seven days a week. Dance classes include Hawaiian, Swing, Square, Western Line dance.
North Berkeley Senior Center (Berkeley)

Shawl Anderson Dance Center (Berkeley)

The dance center offers beginner, intermediate and advanced classes in ballet, modern, horton (strength and flexibility), jazz, and hip hop. They also offer a class called livelong movement that is designed for older adults.

Smuin Ballet (Walnut Creek)

Founded by Michael Smuin and debuted in March 1994. They have fall and winter, holiday and spring performances at four different bay area venues.

Temescal Arts Center (Oakland)

The Center offers tribal fusion, post modern, odissi, samba and belly dance classes all days and times during the week and weekend. See schedule for times and prices as each class is given by a different group.

Valley Dance Theatre (Livermore)

Valley Dance Theatre is directed by Betsy Hausburg and has been training students on classical ballet and modern dance for over 25 years. They have two productions each year. One is a a full length Nutcracker production with the Livermore Amador Symphony in December and the other is a local talent and choreography showcase in June.

The center offers Argentine tango, line, ballroom, Salsa and Latin and Tahitian dance classes.
