Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County (San Jose)

Give warm, personal attention and affection to special needs children at 22 sites in the county and receive a small non taxable stipend.

Family Supportive Housing (San Jose)

There are a variety of roles to choose including day and evening care for preschoolers, dinner servers and kitchen helpers, help school age children with homework, help sort and organize donated clothing and facilitate an educational workshop for adult residents.

Law Foundation of Silicon Valley (San Jose)

This organization provides a variety of free legal services for low income individuals. There are opportunties for attorneys and people with some legal background to help with their programs.

Loaves and Fishes (San Jose)

With the meal program, help with all aspects of the meals, including setting up the dining room for dinner, preparing the meal, serving and clean up. Other opportunities include the grocery bag program where help is needed to set up and distribute grocery bags to families, and puting away food following the program. Special holiday programs include Senior Brunch, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and Parent Shopping Day in December.

Marthas Kitchen (San Jose)

Volunteers collect donated food, prepare it and serve hot meals to the hungry.

Pivotal (San Jose)

Volunteers can directly support foster youth through the mentorship program. The mentor provides personal support, encouragement, and guidance throughout the academic year.

Second Harvest Food Bank South Bay (San Jose)

Volunteers help provide food to people in need in our community by getting food ready for distribution and distributing it to the people in need and health and nutiriton education and outreach.

SJB Child Development Center (San Jose)

SJB provides childcare for low income families. Their infant, toddler, preschool, before and after school programs foster five key developmental areas; socio emotional, physical, cognitive, language and creativity.

YWCA (San Jose)

The programs offered by the YWCA of Silicon Valley enable women, children, and families to learn, grow, and prosper. These programs, which have become a model for social service efforts nationwide, address the fundamental human issues underlying poverty, violence, and family dysfunction. Areas where volunteers are always needed in the childcare center, rape crisis center and hotline, to help with events and family services.
