Private Preserve History & Nature Hike
On this day in late Spring, we visited Palassou Ridge, a preserve that protects more than 3500 acres managed by Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority. The land connects Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear Ranch County Park to Henry Coe State Park. It is an important habitat for vulnerable native wildlife. On our guided walk, we passed ranch ruins including an historic stone house, barn and old farm equipment. Later we walked uphill through shady woodlands. Along the way, we learned about the preserve’s history and protected wildlife. This special walk is made possible by Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority.
