Birds of Shoreline Lake Park

Today a group of visually impaired people joined us for a multisensory educational walk around Shoreline Lake and by Charleston Slough at Shoreline Lake Park. We learned about the pied-billed grebe and its cousin the Western grebe and listened to their songs. At the salt ponds, we saw and heard shorebirds such as the long billed dowitchers and curlews. On our return, we heard the white and brown pelicans, cormorants and the great blue herons. At the end of our walk, we enjoyed a social picnic lunch. Thank you Valley Water for sponsoring this walk.
