ACT for Mental Health (San Jose)

ACT provides counseling, assessments, and mental health services to anyone in need. Current volunteer opportunities include: bookkeeping, grant researchand writing. mental health project coordination, clerical duties, web planning and Implementation, and marketing activities, such as fundraising.

Alzheimers Activity Center (San Jose)

Caring for loved ones takes a community. Volunteers work with the regular Alzheimers Activity Center staff during all the activities in which clients are engaged, in both small and large group settings. Volunteers often bring their own talents and interests, like musical performance, to share with our clients.

Asian Americans for Community Involvement (South Bay Region)

Most of the clients are low income Asian immigrants and refugees. Current programs include mental health and primary care health services, HIV/AIDS prevention and education, breast cancer education, substance abuse treatment, a center for survivors of torture, a senior center, after school youth programs, English and citizenship classes, and advocacy. Asian Womens Shelter (San Jose)

Opportunities include providing emotional and logistical support to the women and children in the shelter, hotline counselor, activity leader, legal advocate assistance and others. Please contact them directly to match your interest with the available opportunties.

Eastern European Service Agency (San Jose)

This organization ddresses the needs of immigrants and refugees from the former Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe by providing social services, mental health, parent education and guidance, early childhood and youth services, referrals, ESL classes and translation services that are provided in Bosnian, Albanian, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, Polish and Russian. They are looking for volunteers with backgrounds in social services, events coordination, bookkeeping business, office administration or information technology.

Health Trust (San Jose)

The goal of the Living Center is to promote the optimum health and well being of people living with HIV/AIDS, and to educate the community about the disease. Living Center volunteers are needed to help lead fun as well as informational workshops to clients. Volunteers are needed to teach workshops on any health and wellness topic.

Peace It Together (South Bay Region)

This organization provides affordable individual counseling services to children, teens and adults andcommunity outreach programs which focus on the prevention of domestic violence. Currently they need individuals who would be comfortable presenting domestic violence prevention material to middle and high school students.

Support Network for Battered Women (South Bay Region)
Volunteering opportunities for women who are victims of domestic violence include helping with fundraisers and special events, directly or indirectly supporting individuals and families experiencing domestic violence or by becoming a member of the Board of Directors and providing management, fundraising, strategic planning, marketing and other support.
YMCA of Silicon Valley (South Bay Region)

The YMCA of Silicon Valley is committed to enriching kids, adults, families and the community through health, fitness and wellness programs, youth programs, camps, family programs, swimming, and a variety of activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. Volunteers contribute vital services including lead programs, coach and referee sports, plan events, and professional services.
