Cheesy Redwoods Day Trip

Fee: $140 per person for Premium Members, $150 per person for Basic Members and $160 per person for non–members. Fee includes transportation, lunch, activities, gratuities and two tour leaders.

ITINERARY

Exclusive Walking Tour of the Redwoods

This morning, we head to Carmel to visit Santa Lucia Preserve that is not open to the public. We will have a special expert-guided walking tour along Portero Creek lined by second- and old-growth redwoods, oaks, sycamores and red alders. With their fire resistance characteristics, the redwoods in this area recovered from the 2016 Soberanes fire damage through vegetative (sprouting) and sexual (seeds) reproduction. We learn how redwood forests support a diversity of species such as skydiving salamanders and Marbled Murrelet and how climate change has affected redwood forest growth. Local BBQ

For lunch we will have 18-hour, California Oak slow-cooked BBQ with your choice of tri-trip, pulled pork or BBQ chicken (vegetarian option available) with sides.

Gourmet Cheese Tasting at The Cheese Shop in Carmel

In the afternoon, we visit The Cheese Shop, owned by a native Hawaiian, Kent Torrey, where we will spend time tasting cheeses from different countries and made with different types of milk (goat, sheep, water buffalo and cow). The shop is famous for being a gourmand's Mecca for world class cheeses, gourmet foods and wines. As you can see from the photo below, the shop is jam packed with cheese. Kent’s motto is "Eat Cheese, Drink Wine, Live Life Happy!" Afterwards, you can purchase your favorites. There is a Huge Variety of Gourmet Cheeses Offered at The Cheese Shop

Happy Hour by the Bay

Before heading home, we stop for an upscale happy hour with indoor and outdoor seating and scenic views of Monterey Bay with possible otter, seal, shorebird and dolphin sighting. Drinks are not included.
