ITINERARY

Expert-led Redwoods Walking Tour

This morning, we head to Sam McDonald County Park where we take an easy-to-moderate, completely shady and cool walk in the redwoods led by a Save the Redwoods League education expert. There will be an option for an easy shorter walk. The walk will take us to Heritage Grove, a stunning preserve of old growth redwood forest, home to largest Redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains, for a total of four miles. We take our time on the route, pass redwoods and ferns, and stop along the way to learn from our expert guide about the latest redwood research and preserving our California Redwoods. Fresh Cooked Lunch

For lunch, we enjoy the complex, nuanced flavors of a local Indian restaurant. There will be vegetarian and gluten free options. Flavorful Indian Food, photo by Anne Ferguson

Half Moon Bay Artisan Walking Tour

If you love art and culture, this afternoon we visit the charming coastal town of Half Moon Bay (HMB), known for its vibrant local art scene. Our art walk will take us to five galleries where docents will share the history of the HMB art scene, discover local talent, learn about the techniques used to produce fine art, wearable silk art, ceramics, mosaics, stained glass, photography, wood carvings and more! Gallery owners have art history backgrounds and their galleries have been featured in local magazines. Before heading home, we will have time to walk around the downtown shops, enjoy a coffee, ice cream or other treat. HMB History and Painted Silk, images by Anne Ferguson
