ITINERARY
Expert-guided Bay Model Tour
First we visit Sausalito’s Bay Model for a one-hour, expert guided tour. We start with viewing the Marinship exhibit with historic photos, memorabilia, oral histories and other artifacts from Marinship, the Bechtel shipyard in Sausalito from 1942-1945.

Our expert guide will lead us on a tour of the 1.5-acre model of the entire San Francisco Bay and Sacramento - San Joaquin River Delta System that reproduces the rise & fall of tides every 14 minutes. This comprehensive model includes Bart, bridges, all the cities by the bay, islands, tributaries, sloughs and more. During the tour, we will learn the history of the model including why the Army Corps of Engineers built it in 1956, how the simulator works, how they use it for hydrodynamic testing of civil works projects such as simulating the effects of everything from oil spills to upstream dams, and water diversions to floods caused by global warming, and more. You can wander around the entire model although no swimming is permitted!

Caribbean Soul Food
We will enjoy Puerto Rican inspired chicken, beef or vegetarian lunch with rice, beans, organic salad and fried plantains. The restaurant owner, Marisol is a former children's hair stylist whose friends and family encouraged her to serve some of her signature dishes at a special event. Her food soon became so popular at farmer's markets that she moved into her first brick-and-mortar restaurant space.
Visit Downtown Sausalito
Next, we explore downtown Sausalito on your own to visit art galleries; coffee, ice cream, chocolate and other shops; and/or take a guided one-mile walking tour of Sausalito with spectacular views of downtown San Francisco, Richardson Bay, the Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge and the yacht harbor.
